Dear Readers,

It seems like the summer just started, yet somehow we’re up to our Back to School Issue. In it you’ll find tips on getting your child ready for the new school year, advice on how you can help them do better on tests, and healthy eating tips for back to school lunches.

Thankfully, the summer isn’t completely over. There are still many events coming up, including the SAFE Basketball Tournament and the wonderful ENCORE talent show, which highlights the many talented members of our community.

July was a month of basketball, football, soccer, and tzedaka. The teens of our community put together exciting tournaments, all in the name of different charities. The tournaments kept the kids very busy and brought in thousands of dollars for the organizations involved. We have some incredibly giving teens in our community. Charlie Shrem set up a soccer tournament, to raise money for an Israeli terror victim to receive a prosthetic leg. The boy, Asael Shabo, played in the tournament on his crutches and returned to Israel wearing his new limb.
