According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, "Surface paints on the toys could contain excessive levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects."
Toys were also recalled due to small magnets contained inside, which present a choking hazard to small children.
The recalled items were produced by a vendor in China and sold worldwide between May and June of 2007. So far, Over nine million toys have been recalled in the US alone.
Visit www.mattel.com/safety/us for a list of recalled toys. If your children own any of the listed products, discontinue use immediately.
