2008 Men’s Softball League Awards Dinner |

The 2008 Deal Young Men’s Softball League (YMSL) held its annual Awards Dinner with a pool party at the home of Douglas and Stephanie Dweck.
 Hosts of the evening Douglas and Stephanie Dweck, and league commissioner Bobby Morabia and his wife Jaqueline  World Series champions: David “Dash” Ashear, Richie Braha, Morris Kassin, Michael “Sabon” Salomon, Captain Ike Yedid and Max Yedid. Missing: Eddie Mishan, Jordy Rumeld, Abe Serouya, Max Nesser, Isaac Shomer and Jackie Tawil
 Batting champion Elliot Betesh and league MVP Eddie Rishty In addition to celebrating the 2008 champions, Weapons of Mass Destruction, captained by pitcher Ike Yedid, the league also inducted three Hall of Famers. Sammy “Storefront” Ashkenazi A”H, one of the founding members of the Deal League in the late 1970s was inducted by his sons Charles and Jackie, who spoke about how much it meant to their father to be inducted before he passed away. Also inducted was Jackie Braha, one of the greatest offensive and defensive threats in Deal League history. Jackie’s brother, legendary character Richie Braha spoke glowingly about following in his brother’s footsteps. Steve Shalom, former commissioner and standout captain from the early years was the final inductee.

 Award winners Morris “Hoss” Sutton and the one and only Richie Braha The emcee of the evening was none other than long time YMSL commissioner, Bobby Morabia and his sidekick, Sammy “Sane” Sutton, one of the new, bright, young stars in the YMSL. The highlight of the evening was Eddie Rishty winning the Joel Rishty A”H Award for league MVP. Eddie has dreamed of winning the award named after his father and came close the last several years before finally prevailing in 2008. He spoke about how his father taught him the fundamentals and leadership qualities that make him one of the top players in the YMSL today.
