ImageEvery year they promise us the best performance, value, quality, utility and prestige in the latest cars to make it to their showroom. Once again, this year’s Consumer Reports tries to weed through the web of advertising to find the standout 2007 vehicles.

The Toyota RAV4 topped Consumer Report’s Small SUV category. The RAV4 has made significant improvement over its predecessor, by offering a larger model. The V6 version is applauded for being the only nonhybrid SUV to earn excellent ratings.

It is larger than last year's model. The RAV4's interior is versatile and spacious enough to add an optional third row seat. Its 3.5-liter V6 is smooth and powerful. It returns good fuel economy that's only 1 mpg less than the standard four-cylinder.

ImageThe updated Infiniti G35 was rated the best among all upscale sedans. For starters, the G35 offers a combination of sportiness and luxury. Available in rear- or all-wheel drive, it offers an exuberant powertrain, agile handling, and a smooth, comfortable ride. The new 2007 G35 sedan has been completely redesigned, and is powered by a brand new VQ35HR engine, which is more powerful, more fuel efficient, and more responsive than the previous VQ35DE. The "HR" stands for High Revolution.

ImageThe Mazda MX-5 Miata takes home the “Fun To Drive” award, winning over drivers with its balanced handling, quick and precise steering, and crisp-shifting six-speed manual model. The manual top can be lowered and raised with one hand from the driver's seat. The optional folding hardtop was introduced this year.
The MX-5 has won over 150 awards in its history, including making Car and Driver magazine's annual Ten Best list seven times; Wheels Magazine's Car of the Year for 1989 and 2005; Sports Car International's “Best Sports Car of the 1990s” and “Ten Best Sports Cars of all Time;” 2005-2006 Car of the Year Japan; and 2005 Australian Car of the Year.
