Despite its successful history spanning five decades, the JCC is not resting on its laurels. Throughout the winter, JCC camp directors have met with dozens of campers and their parents in parlor meetings throughout Deal and Brooklyn to gauge the needs and interests of the community. The JCC responded by creating its most exciting, cutting-edge camp program yet. JCC Day Camps 2008 kicks off on June 26, and the fun doesn't stop until August 20.
Camp telephone lines are buzzing with campers enrolling in the new Camp E! program, a fully elective program for 5th to 8th graders. Camp E! campers choose their own track, including sensational trips and supreme electives in arts, sports or technology.

The community is also buzzing over exciting one-week specialty camps taught by the JCC's all-star lineup. Instructors include Art Shamsky, 1969 World Series Mets champion; Ron Blomberg, former Yankees player and current Yankees scout; and Elliott Maddox, Former Yankees and Mets player. The sensational team also features David Braka of Little Silver Tennis Club; Steven Doueck of the Jersey Shore Film Festival; Jamie Sariotis Glynn, Aquatics; and Hillel coaches Isaac Dweck, Ralph Mandil, Ryan Pringle and Morris Sultan.
Also new at the JCC this summer is the JTrails All-Stars Program for 9th and 10th graders. With the beach in our backyard, this great program features “Fridays at the Beach,” including beach tennis, beach volleyball, wacky beach games and scavenger hunts. Summer fun continues with surfing, skim boarding, kayaking and trips to New Jersey Rock Gym, Mountain Creek Water Park, Dorney Park and Broadway shows like The Blue Man Group.
2008 will be the year JCC's youngest campers will truly learn how to swim, with the new SuperSwim program for Camp Shemesh through 4th grade. This progressive new program will improve campers' swimming skills while engaging them in exciting games and contests.
The JCC boasts more than 250 specially trained counselors from the community, under the expert direction of Camp Director Randi Cohen; Associate Camp Director Randy Topper; Camp Shalom Staff Development Coordinator Sonia Falack and Program Coordinator Gladys Bailey.
